The exposition company com-pany has opened offices in the New Southern hotel, Chicago, having taken the quarters formerly occupied by the Chicago Motor club. H. V. Buelow.i general manager of the show, Is in charge, and his large working force is composed of experienced men. Motor truck manufacturers without exception who have been approached by F. Ed Spooner. Detroit, chairman of the truck committee of the show, have commended the plans for this ex-, hibit. At the present time 42.000 I square feet of floor space has been given over to the truck exhibits, which will range on either side of an aisle 28 feet in width. Each space will be 20 by 20 feet. The hall in which the show will be held is 2340 feet in length, without a pillar or obstruction of any sort, and it Is 68 feet in width The decorative plan includes pano rama hand paintings, each a half mile in length, to extend from the floor to a height of 10 feet. An arch of sky blue decorations with stars will extend from the paintings completely cover-Ing cover-Ing the roof, and scattered artistically artistical-ly the length of the show room will be statues of a patriotic character to symbolize the objects of the show which are patriotic in that none but essentials will be exhibited, including trucks of every character, tractors, accessories, ac-cessories, motorcycles and undoubtedly undoubted-ly airplanes. For many years now, or ever since the discontinuance of the national motor mo-tor truck shows which followed the national na-tional automobile shows at New York and Chicago, there has existed a growing grow-ing demand for the renewal of the commercial car exhibits, and Chicago Will answer this demand with the greatest exhibit ever known held in rhe most ideal of locations, and at a time of year that is pronounced altogether alto-gether favorable bv the manufactulr ers. Sentiment of the industry has been undeniably in favor of such an event as this for many years. In many sections of the country motor trucks have been shown either as a part of some national show or independently, with local interest, yet the makers have been exhibitor? in large numbers and the events have proven profitable in a business way. Many conventions will be held in Chicago during the show on invitation of the Chicago chamber of commerce which is taking a very active interest in the event. City officials and the officers of the municipal mu-nicipal pier are also taking an active interest, many as chairman or members mem-bers of committees. The comcntions at show time, covering a range which Includes every field of purchasers in the truck and tractor field, will be held in the auditorium at the end of the pier. This seats 5000 people and 2000 may be cared for at a banquet. Prominence of the motor truck at this time, due to its wide usage in freight hauling work the country over, relieving railroad conditions, and its use in war, adds prominence to this exhibit ex-hibit of esbentlals of the da Dealers all over America, who have in the past handled only passenger cars, are now taking up the motor truck, and an exhibit ex-hibit in September provides them, and also business men of the cities :md the farmers, an opportunity io Inspect the truck products of the country and to make their purchases. That this great show will be productive produc-tive of purchasing tho makers say . there is no doubt, and therefore the demand for space which is even now most pronounced. |
