Barker declared the bail of $25 forfeited for-feited When arraigned yeSterda morning, Smith first entered a plea, but when asked if be was ready for trial at once decided to change bis plea and contest the case. Judge Barker allowed hini io change the plea and released him on $25 cash bail, which was furnished When h appeared in court yesterday he bore a badly bruised and cut eye, whicb it was said he received in the flcht with the irate husband Smith also stated to the court that he had witnesseE who would testify for him and I"-- would hae them on hand this morning. Neither he nor his Witne showed up, although Mr. and Mrs Cronqulst and a number of eye witnesses wit-nesses to the disturbance were on hand to testily against Smith. According Accord-ing to the police report, Mr. and Mrs Cronqulst of 2631 Grant avenue, were walking pa-i th'1 Korh pool hall when Smith who was seated in an automo bile, passed an insulting remark to which the husband took exception. |
