Show NEW SUBSTITUTE FOR RED LIQUOR John Barney, who was arrocted early this morning on the streets of the city by Deputy sheriff Dick Wootten on a charge of being drunk, was given a suspended sentence thh morning by Judge George S. Barker fn the municipal court Barney brought to light one more substitute for real red liquor, when he told Judge Barker that he drank not a bit of "booze" but had some root bark whatever that is. Judge Barker pave Barney a lecture, lec-ture, saying that he knew how he ' ad been getting along since the first of last August and believed in encour- aging him to stick to the "straight and narrow," Barney said he was glad the state was dry, as ho had kept sober since prohibition came, except just one little 'fall during the first month of the d'"y spell last year. oo |
