ON THIS DAY OF j THANKS j In no part of the world have tho j people more to bo thankful for on this i day than the American people, j Everywhere Is war and distress, ex- cept in the United States and South j America. While we are at war, the J country is free from all direct evl' dences of the horrors of war. p There is more real prosperity in J the United States than at any Itme In I the nation's history. Work Ib abun-I abun-I dant, and, although prices are high, I there are very few who cannot buy j the things which are absolutely neces- H sary. Women are entering Into many K new lines of employment, owing to tho B scarcity of workers, and this enlarg- B lng of the field of opportunity Is help- H ing to make many a family independ- W ent that heretofore has been handicapped handi-capped by reason of the absence of male supporL Conditions, of course, are abnormal, but, even looking to the future, we have reason to be most hopeful. Tho war brings its great uncertainty, but we all have an abiding faith in the success of our arms. We are thankful tho terrible conflict so far has brought us no greater distress dis-tress than has been experienced. |
