"Go into our country districts and you will no longer see any men of military age. "Women, old men and children do all the work in the fields; they even repair re-pair the roads. "We have fully mobilized all our effectives without restrictions of any kind. Our financial effort has been no less extensive and I need not speak of the industrial and the economic effort ef-fort which is so difficult for a country possessing none of tho raw materials requisite for war manufactures." Discussing the Austrian soldiers the king said there was not the same solidarity soli-darity between the front and tho interior in-terior as among the united democratic nations. There was a real barrier between be-tween tho soldiers at tho front and the peoplo at home. Nevertheless, he added, the Austro-Hungarian army was fighting very vigorously. |
