Show NEW MEN ON STATE COUNCIL OF DEFENSE State Senator George H. Dern and S R. Inch, general manager of the Utah Power & Light company, were jesterday named by Governor Bamberger Bam-berger as members of tho stato council coun-cil of defense to succeed Clarence Bamberger and C. E. Grosbeck, resigned. re-signed. Both Mr. Groesbeck and Mr. Bamberger Bam-berger resigned from the council because be-cause they are moving away from the city. Mr. Bamberger's resignation was received yesterday, when the governor determined to make both appointments to fill the vacancies created. Captain Clarence Bamberger Bamber-ger has been assigned to duty in Washington with tho federal ordnance department. Besides being a state senator, Mr. Dcrn is a prominent mining man of Utah, holding large interests in connection con-nection with his father, John Dern. Mr, Inch is general manager of the Utah Power & Light company. Captain Bamberger has mining interests in-terests In the state, so that the appointment ap-pointment of Mr. Dern perpetuates that industry's representative on the council and Mr, Groesbeck's connection connec-tion with the power and light interests inter-ests of the state is continued in the appointment of Mr. Inch. |
