Show CAPT, FITZGERALD IS A SUCCESSOR SALT LAKE. Oct. 25 Captain F. V. Fitz Gerald, formerly draft executive execu-tive ofHcer for Utah, yesterdav received re-ceived from Washington authority to turn over government funds in his possession to Captain Gordon Snow. He did so at onge. and left on the noon train for Camp Devens, Mass., where he will become assistant to the division divis-ion quartermaster under Major-General H. P. McCain. Captain Snow, who has been In the office for some weeks, and who Is familiar fa-miliar with tho details of the work. Is now draft executive officer and draft disbursing officer for Utah. He was formerly city recorder. Captain Fitz Gerald became draft1 executive of the stale when the con- 1 scrlption law became operative. At the time he was secretary to Governor Bamberger. When he wa3 appointed to charge of the draft work he was assigned to the governor's office. Later La-ter when the draft work became too heavj he resigned the secretaryship and was succeeded by 0. J. Grimes. Captain Fitz Gerald, previous to becoming be-coming secretary to the governor, was the city editor of The Tribune. Captain Snow was city recorder and resigned that office to assume his draft duties. Previous to becoming city recorder re-corder Captain Snow also was a member mem-ber of The Tribune reportorial staff. Attention of local draft boards is called, in a bulletin sent out yesterday by Major Fred JOrgensen. adjutant general of Utah, to the proper pro-! ceduro with regard to the cancellation' of serial numbers of registrants who( are removed from the board's records for any reason, such as death or transfer trans-fer to some other board. The bulletin says, in pari . "The attention of all boards is called to the fact that serial numbers must only be cancelled by this office, and that for some of them to arbitrarily arbi-trarily cancel certain numbers and notify no-tify this office as well as the provost marshal -general of the cancellation of the numbers is contrary to the regulations regu-lations and a source of much confusion. confus-ion. It is requested that this matter be given the earnest attention of all boards, in order that requests for cancellation can-cellation and not notification of cancellations can-cellations be received here." oo |
