Show FOOTBALL STARTS IN SPITE OF THE WAR SALT LAKE CITY, Oct 22 Fool-ball Fool-ball has started throughout Utah high schools and colleges and despite the fact that the schedules aro supposed to have been abandoned, more or less, there is -unusual enthusiasm for war times, and much splendid material is showing up for practice, according to football authorities. Football at Brigham Young University, Univer-sity, at Provo, is looked for now that Lieutenant Hancock, formerly stationed station-ed at the University of Utih, is in charge of the Student Army Training Camp there, for he announced before leaving hero that he would support the game strongly. Coach Earl Pickering, formerly with Minnesota, has appeared at the Utah Agricultural college at Logan, already and practice is well under way. Pickering Pick-ering will have several veterans for tho start of this year's senson. There also is much activity at the state university uni-versity here. A few former players arc registered" for the fall team and a number of players who starred in high school undoubtedly will make the team. The dropping of tho freshmen rule, it is thought may make the game this year more snappy than in former years. A four team league to Include Utah Agricultural college, University of Utah, Brigbam Young university and Fort Douglas is being discussed here. There appears to be much feeling in local football circles over the probable loss of games with Colorado organizations. |
