Show LOCI BIKERS ARE i- BACK FROM COAST , COiFEREICE Warren L. Wattis, M. S. Browning and C. H. Barton, local bankers, returned re-turned Monday from Sap Francisco, where they attended the one-day con-' con-' ferenco of representative bankers of the Twelfth district of federal reserve banks. They attended the meeting at the telegraphic request of James K. Lynch, governor of the federal reserve banks of this district Mr. Wattis stales that the principal subject discussed and chief reason for the conference was in connection with the placing of government treasury certificates when tho Liberty loan campaign begins next month. The meeting was held behind closed doors with absolutely no publicity men present. pres-ent. The connection of the banks of the various communities, as well as the part of tho public in the financing of the nation whilo at war, wero discussed dis-cussed by tho bankers. Definite plans were outlined regarding regard-ing the methods of the banks in caring car-ing for the sale of certificates. Mr. Wattis stated that the co-operation of the local banks wtih the federal reserve re-serve banks was shown to bo harmonious harmon-ious and in the best working condiiton for aiding in the financing of the nation. na-tion. The local representatives to the conference have stated that it was the most enthusiastic conference they have ever attended and problems of tho greatest importance to the nation as a whole were discussed. |
