This year there is a real seed shortage so that what there is should be made to go as far) as possible. The home gardener too often wastes his seed by planting too thickly. Such vegetables as lettuce muskmelon, cucumber cu-cumber kale, parsnip, vegetable o-ter o-ter and turnip require only one-half! ounce of seed in order to plant a row j 100 feet long; onion, radish, spinach 1 and carrot require one ounce; string or lima beans, one-half to one pint, beets, two ounces; cauliflower, one packet; eggplant, one-third ounce; cabbage one fourth ounce. If your garden row measures more or less, figure according, but buy only as much seed as is necessary and buy it early. oo |
