Show OAKS COME RACK AND WALLOP DEES Salt Lake Fails to Score in Lively Game With Oaks McCredie's Pitching Staff Poor SAN FRANCISrn. April 122 - With a regular pitcher working today, the Oaks again showed up Walt McCredie's McCre-die's Salt Lake team. Speed Martin shut the heavy hitters out. 3 to 0. and was in real trouble only once. A fast double play started b Youn', Croll, with Christensen acting as pivot, yanked him out of that tough spot in the seventh, and he simply breezed through to a Tlotorj It is not fair to Judge the Salt Lake club just now, for Walt McCredie is dreadfully shy on pitching talent. He had to start Harry Morton, a San Francisco boy. who had plenty of trouble winning camps in the winter league here. Had the Bees been lnm-mlnj lnm-mlnj the sphere ns they did on Thursday Thurs-day at Oakland. Harry would probably prob-ably have hung up victory at that, but with Speed Martin bearing down all the time, it took a real pitcher to keep step with him. With one man out in the seventh, i h i ppr U got a double and then Walt McCredie thought he saw a chance to get into the game, for he lifted Cox and sent Ward Miller to bat for him Ward stuck around until he got a pass and it was up to Konnick Mike hit the ball hard, but Croll took it on the run, flipped it to Christensen, who : shot to Gardner in time for a double killing, and the rally was over. Taking Cox out of the game made it necessarv for Earl Sheeley to limp into in-to the fray on his bad ankle and Karl Crandall went to third base, while Conkwrlcht relieved Morton in the box. McCredie's men performed almost as well as the Oaks and batted out nearly near-ly as many hits, but the way they scattered those hits out over the box score was terrible. They made eight hits and apportioned them amonq sev en different Innings. The transbay squad, on the other hand, bunched their bingl it with much strategy, and eclat and chased Morton to the bench in the sixth, after making mak-ing three runs ronkwright held the Oaks down In the final innings SALT LAKE AB.
