Show iSAC'REO HEW GIRLS SUBSCRIBE TO THE Sacred Heart students are rejoicing over the rapidity with which their nickels and dimes grew into three much coveted Liberty bonds which they proudly presented to their school on Friday. Last -week, through the kindness of Rev. J. M. Sullivan of All Hallows colleg'e, Mr. Hush Ryan of Salt Lake addressed the student body on tho great need felt by tho government govern-ment for ready money to bo used ln feeding, clothing, training and transporting trans-porting our soldiers. Since that day untiring efforts on the part of the girls in charge and most generous co-operation of the academic, preparatory and minim departments have succeeded in raising tho desired subscription fund. Though there was not a holiday at Sacred Heart on October 24, It was in the fullest sense of the word a Liberty Lib-erty bond day, for tho junior department depart-ment served lunch to the entire school in a room glorious in red, while and blue, where Liberty bond posters warned, commanded and pleaded for the cause of the juniors. The little girls realized a sum far beyond their highest expectations and no millionaires who are , standing back of their country in this crisis could be happier than the two seniors and two juniors chosen to carry the money to the Commercial bank and take the bonds to Sacred Heart. Besides Be-sides being the means of raising more than half of tho three bonds, the Liberty loan lunch awakened a spirit of patriotism among Sacred Heart academy girls that Is expected to grow in intensity and power throughout the winter. The holiday enjoyed by St. Joseph's school on October 24 was not wasted, since on Friday they became the proud possessors of a Liberty bond. oo |
