Show BIKER IS TRACED TO OGDEN OY THE PIEHTONS H. C. Hookstra. of Herrick. S. D., was taken into custody here this I moraine by Patrolman Walter S. Mar- j 1 in on information furnished by two Pinkerton detectives who have been I here for several days. Hookstra has been trailed from South Dakota to the Pacific coast and north and south from Canada to Mexico, inland to Salt Lake and finally to Ogden. The man Is said to be wanted In Omaha for defrauding a bank there. j He Is only 25 years of age and was engaged In the banking business at Derrick, S. D., and claims to be a vic tim of circumstances rather than of wrong-doing According to his statement, state-ment, he was doing what the bank examiners ex-aminers of South Dakota advised, that is, to keep as much money that passed through the bank In bis own state, and that In some manner a promissory note became involved In the matter for $1,000. He had plenty of money In the bank to cover iL he said, and the money was applied by the other bankers bank-ers to the payment of the note, although al-though their action was Illegal. The two Pinkerton men are C. J. Kennedy and J. C Mclnbress of the Salt Iake branch of the agency. |
