Show (JO I. W. W. TO BE CRUSHED OUT Bill to Come Before Congress for Prompt Action Measure Meas-ure Approved by Cor. mittee. WASHINGTON. April 30 A bill designed to crush out the I. W W. has i been approved by a senate judiciary sub-committee as a BUbstltut for a similar measure proposed by Senntnr King of T'tah and will be considered next Thursday by the entire committee commit-tee The substitute bill by Senator Walsh of Montana Democrat, would make such organizations unlawful, providing ten years imprisonment and $5000 fine for membership, management, circulation circula-tion of their literature advocacy of their doctrines, or rental of rooms for meetings Prohibitory Clause. The principal prohibitory clause of the bill provides that: "Any association, one of whose purposes, pur-poses, or professed purposes is to bring about any governmental, social, industrial or economic change within the United States by the use, without authority of law, of force, violence or physical injury to person, or property, or by threatts of such injury, or which teaches, advocates, advises or defends the use, without authority of law, of force, violence or physical injury to person or property, or threats of such injury to accomplish such change or for any other purpose, and which, during dur-ing an war in which the United States i- engaged, shall, b any means, prosecute or pursue such purpose, or professed purpose or shall so teach advocate, advise or defend is hereby declared to be an unlawful association." associa-tion." oo |
