Show SO THE PEOPLE MAY KNOW The Ogden Clearing House association and the members of the State Liberty loan committee com-mittee for Weber county, at a joint meeting yesterday afternoon, decided that the public should be advised of the following conditions : The incomplete list of subscribers to the present Liberty loan discloses some astonishing delinquencies and some shameless slacking on the part of certain Ogden and Weber county citizens; citi-zens; it discloses the fact that some citizens and business houses amply able to loan their funds to the government, still cling to the delusion that money is the only sacred thing in the United States. These slackers will not be able to dodge the issue, because a list of all taxpayers and should-be-taxpayers has been carefully compiled and checked against the list of those who have purchased bonds. This comparison reveals that while many have subscribed up to their ful capacity, others have thus far failed to subscribe at all. while still others have subscribed for amounts absurdedly small in proportion to their financial abilities. The undersigned propose that these facts shall be made known, that the fullest publicity shall be given, and that the names of those who undersubscribed shall be published as well as those who are able but have failed to subscribe at all This may be considered high-handed, but in this emergency it is a necessity and a patriotic patri-otic duty, to sec that full and accurate information is given to the public. We realize that many are intending to plaec their subscriptions who have not yet done so, but this warning is given because from the reports already made, the conclusion is irresistible that a number of citizens amply able to assist the nation in this emergency, are intending to shirk their duty. We know these slackers the people shall know. OGDEN CLEARING HOUSE ASSOCIATION. AND LIBERTY LOAN COMMITTEE- i |
