Show ALLEGED CHORAL GANGMAN NABBED SALT LAKE, April 3. Bert Duncan, Dun-can, 29 years of age, a waiter, believed to bo one of the so-called "chloral gang" that operated in Salt Lake last month, was arrested in his room at the Belmont hotel, 209 South State street, by Patrolmen Cliff Patten and Boy Larson early yesterday and is being held In tho county jail. The police believo Duncap Is wanted in Minneapolis, Minne-apolis, Minn., and Grand Rapids, Mich., for burglary and grand larceny. Duncan was arrested on a specific charge of grand larceny on complaint of A. M. Albright, a mining man of Butte, Mont., who alleges that Duncan Invited him to his room at the Belmont Bel-mont three weeks ago and after drugging drug-ging him, robbed him of $90 and jewelry jew-elry valued at ?400. Tho mining man told the police he had $300 in a secret sec-ret pocket which escaped Duncan's notice Albright believes that a glass of whisky .Duncan offered him and which he drank contained knockout drops. When he awoke Duncan had left the room. A stranger suggested to Patrolman Patten Monday that he go to Duncan's Dun-can's room. "You'll find Albright's watch and chain and jewelry there," tho man said. Patten, taking Patrolman Patrol-man Larsen with him, acted on the stranger's advice. Duncan collapsed as the two officers entered. Larsen and Patten reported finding Albright's watch concealed In Duncan's trousers. Two other men, John , Curry, -1 i years of age, a carpenter, and Robert Jones, 42 years of age, a cook, who arc said to have been in tho company of Albright and Duncan at the time of the alleged robbery, also were arrested, arrest-ed, but later released. |
