Show Poached Apricots. Ilrre is a pleasant novelty in desserts: des-serts: Cut square or round slices of Bllghtly dry sponge cake (or any cake not too sweet) and put one piece on each plate. Moisten slightly slight-ly with apricot julco. If canned fruit is used the juice should be reheated, sweetened, etc., into a nice thick syrup. Place half an apricot on each slice of cake, the round side upper most, and surround with a circle of nicely flavored whipped cream to look exactly like a poached egg. Or use beaten white of an egg with powdered pow-dered sugar, forming a meringue, and set in oven for Just a moment to brown. |
