Show RUBIES VICTIM IS TO IE TREATED Salt Lake, Jan. 3. The first case of rabies reported to the state board of health this year came from Kelton, in Box Elder county. W B Adams of Kelton was biiti-n more than one month ago by a dog he way endeavoring to brandage after the dog had been Infected by a coyote. The man had open wounds on his hands and arms, and, from symptoms, it is believed he is suffering from the disease. The case was reported by Dr. Campbell of the Kelton district, and Dr. T. B- Beatty, secretary of the state board of health, has wired to Washington for Pasteur treatment. From what has been written by Dr. Campbell concerning the symptoms the man has displayed, it seems doubt, fnl, according to Dr. Beatty, if the case may be successfully treated at this late hour. Another case of a similar nature has been reported by Dr. Colton, who has informed the department that a man has just left Bridge, Idaho, for Salt Lake City to receive the Pasteui treatment given by the stale board of health. In this case it seems the man was bitten by a dog more than two weeks ago. but did not at first consider the bite serious enough to cause him any anxiety. Dr. .1. fracey of Millard county haa I written tho state department citing cases where dogs in the county believed be-lieved to be infected with hydrophobia are running loose. The county commissioners, com-missioners, he says, refuse (o do their duty in regard to the muzzling of dogs and tho shooiing of stray animals without visible dot; license plates on their collars. |
