The first step j in the government's fight to extradite I the four eastern leaders of the Industrial Indus-trial Workers of the World for trial in Chicago in the alleged nation-wide conspiracy against the government was taken here today when Elizabeth ( Gurley Flynn, known as "Princess of . the Reds," Carlo Tresca, Arturo Gio-vannitti Gio-vannitti and John Baldazza wore ar-' ar-' raigned before United States Commissioner Commis-sioner Hitchcock The quartet were arrested here last night under the blanket indictment found in Chicago, but as no copy of ! this indictment had reached here to- day the prisoners were held in $10,000 , bail for each until Wednesday. CHICAGO, Oct. 1. Federal authori-I authori-I ties announced today that forty-five t of the 16G members of tho Industrial j Workers of the World, named in indict-J indict-J ments returned last Friday by a fed-, fed-, eral grand jury, are under arrest in .various parts of tho country. Reports of more arrests are looked for by government gov-ernment agents, as the whereabouts of practically all indicted is known although al-though a number have changed their addresses since news of the indictments indict-ments became public.
