Show Blue Laws of Iowa Playing Havoc With BasefoH DES MOINES, la., May 2-1. Despite recent acquittals here, Iowa will experience ex-perience another "blue Sunday," according ac-cording to an announcement made late today by Attorney General Havner. Tho attorney general stated that Municipal Mu-nicipal Judge Meyer's ruling that Sunday Sun-day baseball and movies were legal would not "in tho least" deter him from enforcing the "blue" laws throughout the state next Sunday. "The municipal court," Mr. Havner said, "holds the same rolatlon to the courts of the state as does a justice of the peace. I certainly would not be deterred In carrying out law enforcement en-forcement by a justice of tho peace's decision." Tho attorney general said he was preparing another letter to county attorneys, at-torneys, instructing them to enforce the law. The contents of the letter will be made public tomorrow Drug stores, cigar stores and moving j plcturo theatres meanwhile have announced an-nounced their intention to remain open In spite of the attorney general's announcement. |
