Show I YOUNG MEN WANT I fJ A PART la mi Editor Standard: I wonder, as no I r doubt many others have done, why ji r the young men, say from 20 to 30 I years of age, take so little interest in i the happenings of the things that so I L much concern them. But as I look I back at the events of the last week, j even in our own city, 1 believe I can I tell you why. The oilier night, at ji J the mass meeting, I noticed that all 1 I who took part in the program were j l men of fifty years at least, but not one I young man was asked to say one 1 word, although there were many pres- 1 ' ent on whom will rest the burden to a I j great degree. I also noticed at yes- j terday's meeting all old men were n named, and so it has always been, j I even in our fall Fashion Show. No "a. V young men are gien a place. Are H I we not to be trusted? Are all the .1 brains of the land locked in the skulls m of the old men? I wonder what a rl committee of young fellows would do J if given a duty to perform. T (Signed) JAS. BURG. H I Good! We take it that this is a i declaration, not of protest, but of H 1 service a volunteering of our young H Bl men. The committee on preparedness has ji Marriner Browning on one of the most yl important committees, that of muni- ' a tions, and it is only necessary for '31 w n other young men to manifest their .iM a willingness to Berve their country in 3' I this way in order to gain recognition, a The older men are proceeding along the lines of home defense. They are jjfl doing the things within their power to do. The young men are invited to ' join with them and help make the ,fl movement for preparedness most a comprehensive. j, Monday evening there will be a ,ii preparedness parade, and every young i man in the community is urged to take I jj part |
