With the Pacific Coast league opening only four days away the teams here in the circuit cir-cuit wound up their spring training-today training-today and managers sat down with paper and pencil to figure out the probable line-ups for the opening day. Out on the steaming deserts of Vernon, Ver-non, Stovall put his Vernon Tigers through their final practice. Great care was taken to see that no man exerted himself too much. Stovnll's men were in the pink of condition and the Tiger leader hopes to give them just enough work to keep them on edge for the next four days. At Washington park. Chance sent his Los Angeles champions through a snappy practice and then held his final exhibition game. Strange to say not an Angel was on the hospital list and Chanco had his men ready for the opening against Oakland Tuesday. Preparations are beinp made for one of the biggest b:iseball parades j ever held here next Tuesday. The Oakland team will arrive in Los An- 1 geles Monday nnd will work out at Washington park In the afternoon. The I. os Angeles team will he In the race stronger than ever. Chance has strengthened left field by replac-i replac-i ing the veteran Kllis with IVtuesel, a coming star, and he will at least balance the loss of wolter with Killi-fer Killi-fer in center field. The reliable Mag. gert will start in right field this year. The Angeles' pitching staff should be as strong if not stronger than any in the league. Regarding the Vernon Tigers, look out for them. On paper the team Hoes not line up as the fastest in the league, but when it comes to spirit it will have to be recokoned with. |
