Show CRUESER MEETS GERMANRAIBERS Rio Janeiro, Feb 15 An officer of the British cruiser Glasgow has confirmed con-firmed reports of a recent naval battle off Fernando de Noronha, 126 miles off the eaat extremity of' Brazil, according ac-cording to the newspaper Rua. The Glasgow received a report of the fighting through a wireless message from the British cruiser Amethyst, which alone gave battle to tho German raiders. Before 6 o'clock in the evening the Amethyst sighted some steamers whirh she signalled to come nearr They did so. Then It was seen that these vessels, not two. as at first supposed, sup-posed, but three large steamers, were clearing for action Almost Immediately Immedi-ately they opened fire The Amethyst returned the fire and steamed toward the enemy, whereupon whereup-on the raiders took to Right, but continued con-tinued firing. The real light occurred near Fernando Fer-nando de Noronha One of the raiders seriously hit. was observed to he sinking sink-ing The others escaped.
