Show oo MORMONS ON THE BORDER. In our peaceful, comfortable homes we scarcely realizes the meaning of the stories of the travail of the Mormon Mor-mon colonists from Mexico. Today's despatches, telling of the finding of: the bodies of the murdered Mormon refugees, and describing the scenes! which followed the bringing of the news to the families of the mutilated,' must stir the emotions of every one' in Utah. Driven from their towns and farm by the bandits of northern Mexico, the colonist undoubtedly are in dire dis-! tress There must be ragged, hungry children in the caravan at Hachita. New Mex'ico, and the Standard favors a movement to raise a fund to send to the parents of those little ones. Utah's generosity should be quick to act. No call for aid has been is-j sued, but the offer should be tele-' graphed. No one part, but all Utah, will be deeply affected by the outrages, and ; the entire state should join in extending extend-ing moral and financial support to the i harassed refugees. |
