Show - uu RIOT BREAKS OUT ANONGTROOPS Colored Regiment From Illinois Il-linois Threatens to Throw Whitemen Out of Saloon. Was-hington, July 25. Major General Gen-eral Funston today reported to the war department regarding a disturbance disturb-ance created by riots of the Eighth Illinois National Guard regiment at Ban Antonia last night, in which three of the men were slightly wounded wound-ed by bullets fired by the provost guard. The report follows: "About 5 30 p. m. today (July 24) about 40 men of the Illinois Eighth Regiment (colored) wore assembled in a saloon near the reservation. Threats were made to throw out the white soldiers and it is believed that some disturbance occurred. Reports came to guard house to send guards to stop disturbance. Patrol of four or five men went to scene and tried to disperse crowd, but without much success. Patrol was joined by about four more members of the guard and all tri.d to get men away by pushing them along, 'Guard finally had to strike some 11 ; With butts of guns. Then mem-hers mem-hers ot Eighth Illinois began to throw TOCkl at guards. Guard finally fired several shots at the legs of troopers 'ounded three members of Eighth .
