Show oo POSTAL DEPOSITS IN NEW YORK CITY New York, July 24. June records for postal savings deposits were eclipsed last month, when a net gain of more than $3,800,000 was rolled up, quadrupling the net increase for June, 1915, according to figures made public pub-lic today at the New York postofflco. The gains were general throughout the country, notably in the smaller industrial indus-trial centers. Postmasters attribute their Increase, It -was stated, to the country-wide prosperity of wage earners earn-ers and to the legislation of May IS last, which increased the limit on deposits de-posits from $100 to $1000. ' Among the cities showing the largest larg-est gains for June are: New York, $528,912; Brooklyn, $262,-205; $262,-205; Detroit, $167,252; Chicago, $123,-042; $123,-042; Boston, $91,069; Pittsburg, $88,-304; $88,-304; Cleveland, $74,754; Buffalo, $52,-94 $52,-94 G; Milwaukee, $48,497; Philadelphia, $47,08S; Portland, Ore., $46,448; Newark, New-ark, N. J., $40,327; St. Louis, $39,139; Kansas City, $32,012; Los Angeles, $2S,40G; San Francisco. $27,724; Jer-sev Jer-sev City, $23,550; Columbus, Ohio, $22,' 766; Tacoma, Wash., $22,430; Toledo, $20,772; San Diego, $18,631. On June 30 there were 7701 post-offices post-offices accepting deposits in the United Unit-ed States, Alaska, Porto Rico and Hawaii. Ha-waii.
