I A JURY I ; May Lyons was found not guilty f yesterday afternoon by a jury in Mu-M Mu-M ; nlcipal Judge Barker's court, of a j charge of selling liquor without a 11-9 11-9 cense. She was arrested by Special H ; Officer E. Barker, on the night of j July 23, at a Twenty-fifth street room-9 room-9 j ing house. M i According to the testimony of Offl- cer Barker, which was substantiated ! by Henry Smuin and E. Carlson, M Smuin received a pint bottle of beer I from the defendant, and Barker paid ; for it. In her own behalf, the witness de- clared her arrest to have been a "frame-up," the beer having been B brought to the rooming house by I Smuin and placed upon a table in her 9 room. A rigid cross-examination of Bi the witnesses for the prosecution to ', establish the credltability of their tes- tlmony was conducted by the attorney ! for the defense. The verdict of the I I jury was returned at 6 p. m. |
