Show MABEL TRASK WW PURSE Kalamazoo, Mich., Aug. 2. Mabel Trask, driven by Waltor Cox, won the 10,000 paper mills purse this afternoon after-noon for 2:08 trotters, setting a mark of 2:03 3-4 for tho event and, Incidentally, Inci-dentally, trotting the fastest mile of the present Grand Circuit season. The 'famous1 daughter of Peter the Great fiilly sustained her reputation for speed and racing stamina by disposing dispos-ing of a representative field of trot-tf-rs quite as successfully as she previously pre-viously had done at Cleveland and Detroit. She was forced to her record rec-ord mile by St. Frisco, driven by "Pop" Geers. In fact, Goers again divided di-vided honors with tho crowd. Every time he appeared he was greeted with rounds of applause. The Cox mare was favorite and won in four straight heats, the purse being divided on that basis. Her winnings were 4500. In tho second heat Geers forced Cox to drive his best to win In 2:03 3-4, establishing a record for the event and beating the previous best mark of 2:04 1-4 made by Peter Scott In 1915. The 2:05 pace brought out a field of seven and was a hot five-heat contest. con-test. The Savoy was the favorite, but he met his match in Lelia Patch-en. Patch-en. General Todd won the first heat in 2:05 1-4, while The Savoy took the second In 2:03 3-1. That settled the pair, General Todd being distanced In the third heat, while The Savoy had to be oontent to Bee Lelia Patchen win the nexi three heats and the race.
