Show THE HOME DRY CLEANER. Tho first implement oE the home dry cleaner dry cleaning, by tho way. is tho term used to describe cleaning without water is a good brush. Every soiled woolen, silk or velvet garment must be first carefully and thoroughly brushed, and in that way freed from as much soil as possible. I The next friend of the dry cleaner is gasoline. It is far plcasanter to ubo gabolino out of door?, wheie the odor readily evaporates, than in tho house. So spring and summer are the pleas-antest pleas-antest seasons to do cleaning at home It is, of course, decidedly dangerous danger-ous to use gafeollne where there io a. tlamo anywhere in the vicinity. Out, of doors it is absolutely safe. ' Use plenty of gasoline. Wash the. garment in "one bowl of it, and iin3o it in another. Let the gasoline dnpi out, as much as possible, then hang the garment on a hanger, on a linei or peg, and shake It fioiu time to! time until tho gasoline is evaporated To gel rid of the odor of gasoline, after the garment is quite dry, put it in the heat. If tho furnace fire is . still burning, spread the garment cleaned over the hot radiator. Other wise leave it In the hot sunshine. i It is somotlmes better to clean an! elaborate cotton or linen frock with ) gasoline than to wash It, for gasoline gaso-line cleaning does not wrinkle and light pressing is all that is neeiled to restore the garment to smoothness. Often it Is not necessary to dip a whole garment to clean it. A thorough thor-ough brushing and airing and the le-moval le-moval of spots with some good cleansing clean-sing agent are the only necessary things to do. For such spot removal, a good mixture mix-ture is this- Equal amounts of alcohol, alco-hol, ammonia and ether Ether aud alcohol alone make a fairly good cleaner. And ammonia is likely to remove color. Always try either of these mixtures on the under side of the material first, to be sure that they will not removo its color. A kneaded rubber or eraser, such as artists use, makes a good cleaner for spots of some sorts. It Is" worth while always having such a rubber on hand. If a spot appears, rub It first with the eraser and you may be able to get it off without resorting to gasoline or any other cleanser.
