Show SOCIETY 1 HIGH FIVE CLUB. The Leap Year High Fivo Club met at the home of Mrs. Mary Butterflold 2474 1-2 "Washington avenue, Tuesday evening, April 4. A very enjoyable evening was spent at cards, after which a delicious luncheon was served. serv-ed. Tho honors at cards were given Mrs. O. Newey, Mrs. K. Brummoll, Mrs. Vllato Harris, Mr. Vilate Harris and Mr. Holden. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Jean Turner, Mr. and Mrs. Al. Powers, Mr. and Mrs. Vllato Harris, Mr. and Mrs. John Holden, Mr. and Mrs. Orson Newey, Mr. and Mrs. John Green, Mrs. Kate Brum-mell, Brum-mell, Mrs. Harry Rowell, Mrs. David Turner, Miss Greon and Mrs. Mary Butterfield. Tho club will meet at tho homo of Mr. and Mrs. Orson Newey, 281S Adams Ad-ams avenue, Tuesday evening, April 11. TIPPERARY CLUB. Mrs. Watts was the chamlng hostess host-ess to the members of the-TIpperary club at her home on Washington avenue, ave-nue, Thursday afternoon. The afternoon after-noon was spent playing Five Hundred honors going to Mcsdames Best, Planz and Webb. Music was -furnished the entire afternoon by Miss Nellie Watts. Tho rooms were beautiful with potted plants. At five-thirty the guests were ushered into tho dining room whoro a delicious supper was served after which all departed voting Mrs. Watts a delightful entertainer. MRS. WEAVER SURPRISED. The officers of Silver Review No. 1, W. B. A. O. T. M. pleasantly surprised tho Lady at Arms, Mrs. Gertrude Weaver, on Thursday evening. After a gamo of cards, delicious refreshments refresh-ments were served to all. Whilo the ladles were at tho table, tho hostess was presented with a hand bag in token of the esteem in which she is held by her fellow officers. Tho following fol-lowing were among tho guests Mrs. Alice Collins, Anna Holden, Emma lladlock, Mary Wilson, Lowe, Prout; Messrs. Hadlock, Lowe and Weaver. SOCIAL EVENT. A very pleasant social event occurred oc-curred at Uintah, Friday evening April 7 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Ellis when about fifty of their friends gathered and surprised them. Coffee, cake and Ice cream wore served and dancing and games were indulged In until a late hour when all departed, voting Mr. and Mrs, Ellis delightful entertainers. BIRTHDAY SURPRISE. A very pleasant birthday surprise was given Mrs.-Hanley at her home on Reeds avenue. Thursday evening high five being played. Mrs. Hanley was presented with a cutglass bowl as a little remembranco from her friends. Those present were: Mesdames Dora, Watkins, Follows, Varney, Baumolster, Ludwlg, Ludding-ton. Ludding-ton. Shipley, Bakor, McGowan, Weaver, Weav-er, Furnace,' Smallcy, Miss Hanley. The table was decorated with carnations car-nations and tulips and a very nice supper was enjoyed. All departed at a late hour wishing Mrs. Hanley many happy blrthdayB to come. FEDERATED W. C. T. U. Tho Federated W. C. T. U. met with Mrs. J. F. Lawson, 2501 Adams avenue, ave-nue, Wednesday afternoon of this week. Quito a number of the ladles wero prcsont and several visitors wore included in the meeting, following fol-lowing the usual business meeting an Interesting paper on "World-wide Prohibition" Pro-hibition" was read by Mrs. J. S. Gordon. Gor-don. Tho article was prepared by Mrs. Gordon and pointed out that in every part of tho world prohibition Is being put into effect with excellent results. Altogether tho paper was exceptionally Instructive and well prepared. Mrs. Walsh dismissed the meeting with tho benediction and a delicious luncheon was served. FOR MR. AND MRS. M'FARLANE. Ono of tho onjoyablo ovonts of the wcok was tho surprise given Mr. and Mrs. Horaco J. McFarlauo at their homo, 1576 Washington avenue, Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, April 5. The event was the first chance their young friends bad had to play somo practical practi-cal Jokes since the marringo of tho couple. At 8:15 the guests came, showering all kinds of surprises and good wishes on tho newly weds and did not loso much time in starting the merriment which consisted of many games and musical selections, both vocal vo-cal and instrumental, offered by H. McFarlane, T. C. Ochs, C. A. Shaw, R. Spence, J. A. Souther, Marie Lowe. Juno Forsha, Floss Ruby, Libby Baty and Florence Oborg. Mr. and Mrs. McFarlane were presented pre-sented with a beautiful set of silver by tho guests and a presentation speech was made by C. A. Shaw, and as the beautiful gift was present appropriate ap-propriate poetrj'i written for the occasion oc-casion at a late hour by Mr. LeRoy Lolshman, was read. At a late hour tho guests wero ushered to the beautifully beau-tifully decorated dining room, whore a daintily prepared luncheon was served. The color scheme was carried car-ried out In pink and white. The guests departed wishing Mr. and Mrs. McFarlane a very happy and pros-porous pros-porous future. The Child Culture club mot at the Maids' and Matrons' club Thursday, April C with Mrs. R. A. Moyes as hostess. Following tho business meeting, meet-ing, Dr. Morrell gave an Interesting talk on "Morals of City and County," which was thoroughly enjoyed by those present. Miss Gladys Rich, pianist and Miss Jessie Beeson, violinist vio-linist rendered a musical selection, "Meditatively" followed by a vocal solo "Happy Day" by Miss Marian BrowniDg. As an encore Miss Browning Brown-ing sang "Memory." She was accompanied accom-panied on the violin and piano by Miss Marj" Fisher and Miss Gladys Rich. Tho Instrumental selections and vocal numbers were beahtifully given and appreciated appre-ciated by the club members. Later In the afternoon refreshments were served by tho hostess, assisted by Misses Mabel Moyes, Irma EccIob, Clara Patterson, Jessie Moyes and Mary Hurst Guests of tho club for the afternoon wero: Mesdames W. H. Eccles, James Ballard, G. D. Moyes, Lo Roy Pug-mire, Pug-mire, William Douglas and Miss Eva Moyes. The club will meet again April 20 at tho Maids' and Matrons' club with Mrs, Gwilllam as hostess. FIVE HUNDRED CLUB. Mrs Leo Chamberlain entertained the members of her "500" club Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, honors being given Mrs. Harlln and Mrs. Lunt. Luncheon Lunch-eon was served, a basket of pink sweet peas with pink inalino bows forming the center piece for the dining table. Covers wore laid for Mrs. Carl Allison, Alli-son, Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Fred D. Williams, Wil-liams, Mrs. William Wilson, Mrs. Tlios. Waltman, Mrs. Robert Harlln. Mrs. Charles H. Lunt, MIbs Lillian Lawson and Miss Neva Phillips.
