Rich. In speaking of his misfortune this morning, Dr. Rich said: "I was driving southward on Jefferson Jeffer-son avenue during the heavy snowstorm snow-storm In answer to a call. By the time I reached Twenty-sixth street, the wind-shield on my car was so closely covered with snow that I could not well see through it. My point of destination was on Adams avenue, near Twenty-sixth street, and, knowing there were no poles in the middle of the roads on Twenty-third, Twenty-fourth, Twenty-fifth and Twenty-seventh streets, I thought the poles had also been removed from Twenty-sixth street and that I could make my way in safety and then clear the snow from the shield. "The thought, however, proved wrong and the side of my car struck the first telegraph pole on the hill, west of Jefferson avenue, precipitating precipitat-ing me with great force against the steering wheel. I thought my chest was crushed, but fortunately no bones were broken " |
