Show BOY ACCIDENTALLY SIT Bl ONE OF j HIS PLAYMATES Ray Wilkinson, the 14-year-old son of Andrew Wilkinson of 2136 Lincoln avenue, was the victim of a painful accident yesterday, when a bullet ; fired from a .22-cailbre rifle penetrat-. penetrat-. ed his leg. The bullet entered the leg , about 7 Inches above the ankle and ranged downward, becoming lodged near the large ankle bone. The Injured In-jured boy was taken to the Dee hospital hos-pital and, after examining the wound, the attending physician decided that it would be best not to extract the bullet, unless the wound became infected in-fected The Wilkinson boy was walking west on Twenty-second street, near Lincoln avenue, with some playmates one of whom was carrying the rifle It was known to be loaded, but the owner thought there was no possibility possi-bility of it being discharged. The old adage that a gun without "lock, stock or ban-el" is the safest, again proved true, however, and to the deep surprise or all the boys, the rifle was discharged. |
