Different companies of the Daugh ters of Pioneers met last Tuesday as follow s: Company B met at the home of Mrs David Evans, 237 Twenty-first street A Pioneer sketch of the life ot Mrs Newman was given by her daughter. Mrs Annie Middleton Mrs Miranda Pool and Celina Hath away gave very interesting narratives of their early days In Utah Mrs Dora Holther. visiting board member, spoke of the coming play and encouraged the sale of tickets. I After the meeting delicious refreshments refresh-ments were served by the Mtsses Moves, Tracy and LaRue Evans Company C held a pleasant meet J ing at the home of Mrs C J Jensen on Ktngsford avenue with Mrs. Rln-thia Rln-thia Douglass of the general board present Three new members joined I the company at this mepting. Two I beautiful solos were nicely rendered I by Mrs Guy Clark in her clear &o- prano voice. Mrs. Polly Jones, a pioneer of the state, gave- an Interesting Inter-esting biographical sketch of her life In Utah in the early days. Mrs Eliza Raw son read a letter written by her father in 1841 which provpd Interesting Mrs Douglass of the board addressed the ladies present giving instructions to the new mem 1 bers and also speaking of the p 1 a y which will be given next week. Refreshments Re-freshments were served by Mrs Jen sen and her daughter and a social! hour enjoyed before adjournment Company "G" met at the home of Mrs Henrietta Griffith, at 2.30 p. m , with Captain Roxanna PlJcock presiding. Prayer was given by Captain Roxanna Rox-anna Pidcoch A reading. " The Silver Crucifix.." by I Mrs. Dora Pidcock was pleasing, j Mrs. Mary Parker, captain of com-; com-; pan "A." 6poke of the good work that is being done among the members mem-bers Mrs. Mary Heller read a sketch on The Early Life of President Wllford Woodruff " Mrs. Soble Clark of company "A," made a few brief remarks, after which 1 several piano selections were rendered by MlSfl Ruby Wotherspoon Visitors of thig company were Mrs. Mary Par j ker, Mrs. Soble, Mrs Zina Larkin j and Mrs Fred Packard. Company "H" met with Mrs. Ma-lone Ma-lone 312 Thirty -third street The meeting was opened by singing "Love ; at Home, ' after which Mrs Mary Mor- ris gave the prayer. After the roll ' I call a sketch of the life of Mrs Mary J McFarland Petteieon was given by her j daughter, Margaret Bingham Cora I Malone pleased the ladies with a well ' i chosen vocal selection after which Mrs Mary Richards spoke to the members. Thorold Harris gave a instrumental in-strumental selection. The next meet ing of this company will be held at the home of Mrs. Laurence Taylor, 3357 Washington avenue Company "E" met with Mrs. By bee on Porter avenue Mrs Bybee read a sketch of the pioneer life of Bath-sheba Bath-sheba Smith, which proved Interesting Interest-ing Mrs, Charles Wood had the meeting meet-ing in charge and gave a short talk to the members Mrs. Sadie West of the general board was also present and spoke on the play to be gL en Monday and Tuesday at the Orpheum. A vocal solo was nicely given by Mrs Wancsgaard, who was accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. William Reeder. Mrs. By-bee's two daughters pleased the guests with a duet on the piano after which refreshments were nicely served. |
