Show GERMAN STEAMER LANDS BRITISH Master and Fifteen Men From Off Steamer Indian Prince Put Off at Santos. Rio Janeiro, via London, Sept. 25. S.40 a m. The German steamer Prussia Prus-sia has arrived at Santos and landed the master and 15 men of the British Brit-ish steamer Indian Prince which was sunk by the German auxiliary cruiser Kron Prinz Wilhelm This is the first definite news of the Kronprinz Wilhelm, the North German-Lloyd liner, since she was reported as having been seen transferring trans-ferring coal to the Gorman cruiser Karlsruhe in West Indian waters British cruisers came up while the transfer of the coal was in progress and the Kronprinz. Wilhelm took to her heels, while the Karlsruhe and the British warships engaged in B long range running duel which appears ap-pears to have been without serious results. The Kronprinz Wilhelm sailed from New York ostensibly for Bremen on August 3 It was stated after her departure that she had on board provisions pro-visions and a large store of coal which it was expected she would transfer to the German cruisers operating oper-ating in American waters. The North German-Lloyd company, however, denied the report that the steamer carried war supplies. Since her departure from New York the whereabouts of the Kronprinz Wilhelm has been considerable of a mystery except in the one Instance when the British cruisers reportod they had seen her unloading coal nt sea The .British steamer Indian Prince, a vessel of 1.775 tons, sailed from Rio Janeiro on August 25 for Port of Spain and New York. |
