Show BRITISH TROOPS NOW IN FRANCE London. Sept. 17, 7:15 p m Earl Kitchener, secretary of state for war, In the house of lords today, took1 the country into his confidence as1 to what the British army already had done to assist their French allies an-J spoke of what would be done in the future of the war, which he sai'i probably would be a long one. "There are already in France. " said Earl Kitchener, ' rather more thar six division, of our expeditionary force." The latest adlces from Sir John French, he 6ald, did not materially change the situation from the pub lished statements. The troops were In good heart, ready to move forward 'when the moment arrived. ' In addition to the six divisions ol troops, he said there were two dhi I slons of cavalry in France, which were being maintained at their ful strength, while further regular dhi sions aud additional cavalry were be ing organized from units drawn from overseas garrisons. A division of territorials had al ready left for Egypt, he said, a brig ade for Malta and a garrison for Gl J braltar As to the two new armies A I new divisions were now assembllne at training quarters and a third army was being formed on the new camp ing grounds. A fourth army was be ing created and Indian divisions were on their way. |
