A newspaper man is here from southern Utah who was a visitor laBt January He is surprised at the growth of the city He has been over the residential district and the business section and declares no place he has seen of late compares with Ogden in building activity and general signs of prosperity. That this praise of Ogden is not without merit is brought to our attention at-tention in quite a different manner The trade paper issued by the National Na-tional Cash Register company, known, as the "Sales Records," of date Sep teniber 11, contains ' Babson's September Sep-tember report on business opportunities opportuni-ties in the United States," with the following announcement in large type: "Of the one hundred and fifteen leading cities of the United Stated, thirty-seven show business to be about the same as last year, and the following twenty-six report an increase in-crease in business compared with last year Those capitalized should offer especial opportunities for business busi-ness compared with other cities of the same size: Baltimore Milwaukee Beaumont Muskogee Cedar Rapida New Haven Denver Ogden Des Moines OKLAHOMA Cm FARGO Springfield, Ohio Helena St. Paul Kansas City Scranton Knoxvllle Sioux City Lima Sioux Falls Lincoln Toledo Macon TULSA Minneapolis Vick6burg" To be one of twenty six cities in the United States worthy of special mention in the list of "opportunities" "opportuni-ties" is a distinction of which we may well be proud. Ogden is the only city weBt of the Rocky Mountains recorded as enjoying enjoy-ing an exceptional growth. Neither Salt Lako nor Boise is in the list. With a return of normal conditions throughout the country, Ogden will witness the greatest advancement in its history' and, perhaps, gain first position po-sition In industrial Importance in the IntormountaJn region oo |
