Show INTEREST IN THE JUVENILE COURT I'tah's juvenile court system is attracting at-tracting attention from all parts of the world. Judging from Inquiries that are pouring in on E, I Milne, secretary' secre-tary' of the state Juvenile court commission com-mission Within the last few days Mr Milne has answered queries from France and England and many letters from national na-tional associations in America devoted devot-ed to the care of children. H. S Fullerton. secretary of the National Na-tional Juvenile and Probation society has w ritten for a synopsis of the Utah law and a description of the methods used here. He w'rites that he understands under-stands Utah is the leading state in the union in matters, pertaining to handling hand-ling juveniles W. T. Cross, general secretary of the National Association of Chari'.ies and Corrections, writes that he has heard that Utah is very progressive on juvenile correction lines. He, too, wants to know more about the system. sys-tem. Iawrence C. Fish a prominent lawyer law-yer of New York, who is encaged In a study of the juvenile court question, ques-tion, is the latest applicant for information infor-mation about Utah's system. "Utah is the only state In the union with a state-wide juvenile court system, sys-tem, each branch of which is linked to the others," said Secretarv Milne yesterday. "The result is proving highly beneficial Another reason Utah excels In juvenile court work Is that here we have effected an almost complete divorce of the penal idea from the workings of the juvenile courts We work on an educational basis, rather than a basis of punishment punish-ment " nn |
