Show CHOIR PREPARING FOR THE TRIP TO TRE PKIFIG COAST The followinp letter was received today to-day by President Joseph Scowrroft of the Weber club, oxpressinc the appre nation of the Ogden Tabernacle choir for the support pledged it by the Weber club at its annual meeting last Monday night: "Joseph Scowcroft. We want to as sure you of our hlh appreciation of ihe support that has been pledged by the Weber club and enclose you copy of the resolution Hint was offered by the officers and members of the choir. "Resolved, That we, the offlcert' and members of the Tabernacle choir do hereby tender our thanks to the Weber club for their unanimous decision deci-sion last Monday night to finance the trip of the choir to the San Diego and Panama Pacific exposition at San Francisco in 1 D 1 5 . "Also to Mr. Fred J. Klesel, our "launch friend and supporter, for his interest in making the motion which carried with such unanimous enthusiasm. enthu-siasm. In speaking of the action of the choir at the reheoral, President Wil-lard Wil-lard Scowcroft said that the members mem-bers had also authorized him to send a copy of the above resolution to the Hon. Fred J. Kiesel with a letter as suring him of their deep appreciation of the frlendl attitude he had always shown toward the organization. Regarding the proposed trip of the choir. Mr. Scowcroft said that It would probably consume three weeks, eight or ten days of which would be spent in San Francisco. If plans now under way turn out successful, concerts will be given in the auditorium audito-rium of the Panama-Pacific exposition on the nights of July 21, 22, 2o and 24. The 24th will be Utah day and Governor Spry and the Utah coinmls slon have already given their word that the Ogden Tabernacle choir will be the official singing body for thai event In addition to the concerts in San Francisco, the choir may be heard in Berkeley and one other bay city, on an afternoon If four, or possibly six, concerts are given, two of them being given in the afternoon, there will be sufficient time for the choir members to get a lot of enjoy-ment enjoy-ment In the Fair grounds during the stay in San Francisco. President Scowcroft and Director j Ballantyne believe that the trip to I San Diego will be almost equally important im-portant as the visit to San Francisco j from an advertising point of view The opportunities for concert work are also exceptionally good in the lower coast cities and summer re-resorts. re-resorts. During his last trip to California, Cali-fornia, Prof. Ballantyne said that he learned that in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Venice, San Diego and one or two oiher cities that there were auditoriums each having a large pipe-organ. pipe-organ. This would make it possible for the choir to give recitals under most favorable conditions. |
