Show 1 1 1 Society ST. J08EPH'8 SOCIETY. Mrs. G. C. Wall entertains the Ladles of St. Joseph Sewing Society at her home next Thursday afternoon, Jan. 22. RETURNS TO OGDEN. W D Hood has returned from Promontory where he has been for some time, and he will spend a few weeks in Ogden, combining business with pleasure. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED. Mr George Olmstead announces the engagement of his daughter Edna to Walter Congdon. the marriage to take place next Wednesday evening. Miss Olmstead is one of the popular young ladies of the city and Mr Congdon is a resident of Sacramento, .California, where he occupies a responsible position posi-tion in the offices of the Southern Pacific Railroad. The marriagp and reception will be at the Olmstead residence on West Twenty-fourth. ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT. Mr and Mrs. E. H. Wright announce an-nounce the engagement of their daughter, Stella, to Mr. Lon D. Ol6on, the marriage to take place at an early date. DANCING PARTY A SUCCESS. The annual ball given by the Girls' Athletic association of the Ogden High School last evening wa6 declared de-clared to be one of the most successful success-ful of the many enjoyable affairs given giv-en at the school for some time. About 260 were present and a program of twenty-two dances for which muBic was furnished by the well-known Eagle orchestra, was enjoyed. The decorative scheme was carried car-ried out entirely in Japanese style. Japanese fans, parasols and lanterns were effectively arranged while enclosing en-closing the orchestra balcony were banks of Wisteria and chrysanthemums, chrysanthe-mums, potted palms. Cozy corners were a 'la Japanese with palm leaves prettily placed. At the south end of the upstairs hallway a tea garden in true Japanese style with latticed booths exquisitely decorated with large chrysanthemums entwined with Wisteria, where tea was served in small china cups by the following oung ladies. Misses May King, Ethel Topham, Marguerite Clements, Alva Davidson and Vivian Quinn. The girls were prettily attired In Japanese costumes Wind bells placed over the booth and at various places- in the hall were features of the decorative scheme. Dancing began at 8:30 o'clock and was enjoyed until 12. MRS. BAKER ENTETAINS. Thursday afternoon the Past Noble Grand Club was entertained by Mrs Addie Baker assisted by her daughter Mrs. Frankie Roach Regular business busi-ness was attended to and election of officers was held as follows- Past Pres. Addie McChesney; Pres. Mrs Banville; Vice Pres., Emma Holtgren; Secy., Emma Meld ; Treas., India Sawyer. Several games of high five were enjoyed, en-joyed, prizes being awarded to Ida Baker, Amanda Lansing, Emma Meld, and Nona Harrington, after which a delicious dinner was served by the hostess, covers being laid for the following members of the club present: pre-sent: Emma Meid, Sarah Turner, Isella Tyree, Esther Randall, India Sawyer, Ida Baker, Flizabeth Mono-han, Mono-han, Barbara Royle, Ivy Welch, Kate McFarland, Belle Shiverall, Emma Holtgren, Annie Kissel. Marie Beck, Mrs. Banville, Nona Harrington, Amanda Am-anda Lansing and Ida McChesney. Time and place of the next meeting meet-ing will be announced later. JOLLY FIVE HUNDRED CLUB . On January 6 Mr. and Mrs. Boyer of 136 Washington avenue very pleasantly pleas-antly entertained the Jolly Five Hundred Club at their pretty home At card games prizes both beautiful and useful wero awarded to Mr. Myers My-ers and Mesdames Miller and Short. Delicious refreshments were served. serv-ed. At a late hour gue6ts departed declaring de-claring their host and hostess charm lng entertainers. Mr. and Mrs. Short, 517 Third street will entertain the club next Tuesday, Jan 20. LEAVE FOR EAST. Mrs. F. A. Wheeler who has been the guest of her daughter, Mrs. A. R. Mclntyre left for the east yesterday. ENTERTAINS CARD CLUB. Mrs. C. H. Stevens entertained her card club Tuesday afternoon at her home, 730 Twenty fourth street. "WOODEN WEDDING" CELEBRATION Wednesday evening of this week one of the many delightful affairs of the season was celebrated at the home of Mr. and Mrs Walter N Farr, when in honor of their fifth wedding anniversary, anni-versary, sixty relatives and friends gathered at the pretty Farr home, 340 Parry avenue. Appropriate decorations were nicely arranged throughout tho rooms and many beautiful and useful gifts, emblematic em-blematic of the "wooden wedding'' anniversary, an-niversary, were on display. Instrumental and vocal music and games were features of the evening's entertainment and at a late hour a ae-licious ae-licious repast, propared by Mrs. S. H. Winter, wan daintily served by the Misses Hannah Hendricksen and Nettie Net-tie Johansen. Covers were laid for the following bidden guests: Messrs. and Mesdames Mes-dames Enoch Farr Jr., James H.
