Show PREACHER KIDNAPED BY MOB IN DENVER Denver, Colo., April 5. The Rev. Otis L. Spurgeon of Dob Moines, la., was kidnaped from the Pierce hotel here today by fifty mon, placed In a sevon.pas8enger automobile, and taken to Henderson, Colo., twenty-four miles north. There he was given 30 cents by each of the others in the car, or $2.10 altogether; set upon the tracks and told to start walking in the direction di-rection opposite Denver and never to return. Policemen who had been searching for the automobile la which the preacher was whisked away overtook Spurgeon at midnight, two miles out of Henderson, and brought him back to Denver. Tho kidnaping of Spurgeon resulted from an attack made by the minister upon the Catholic clergy at the Pillar of Fire hall on Champa street last night. The preacher was to speak again tonight In the Twenty-third avenue ave-nue Presbyterian church, but did not go to the church. oo |
