Show uu WAS WEtt SIX MONTHS, BUT CARRIES TYPHOID Investigation of the recent outbreak out-break of typhoid fever in Junction by the state health department has established the fact that all of the twenty-eight cases that broke out so suddenly some time ago were contracted con-tracted by eating ice cream made by a woman who had recovered from typhoid last September, but lias been a "carrier" ever since, says Dr T. B. Beatty, secretary of the state board of health. It ha3 been found, says Dr. Beatty, that In some cases of typhoid where the patient recovers fully he or she is a "carrier" of the disease for months and sometimes years afterward. after-ward. Persons so" infected should not touch or handle food that is to be eaten by others, for they are most likely to transmit the sickness to them, though the "carrier" may have fully rccovored from its effects. More education on this subject and strict enforcement of the health laws are necessary to prevent infection in-fection from this source, says Dr. Beatty. Persons who have recovered from " typhoid fever should undergo laboratory tests from time to time so that It may be determined whether or not there is danger of their transmitting trans-mitting the disease to others. oo |
