The State Road convention opened here today with a large attendance and prospects for a highly profitable three days' confer' t'lire, to conclude Saturday noon. M. Madson. commissioner of San pete eount, pnvp a discourse on the road work which has been done in Sanpete count It was followed by a general discussion. Professor E. H Beck6trand of the University of Utah instructed the delegates to the convention con-vention on "Thp Importance of Testing Test-ing Road-making Materials " He pointed out where the lack of proper tests often resulted In a waste of much timp and money and miles of poor roads. Tonight a concert was given the visitors in the Assembly hall, under the direction of Professor John T Hand, head of the music department of the Snow academy Tomorrow there will be two sessions, followed by a banquet at 4:30 o'clock and a dance In the evening. Jesse D. Jewkes. Richard R Layman, Professor William Wil-liam Peterson and D Ward Klnc will be the speakers tomorrow Mr .Jewkes and Mr Lyman are members of the state road commission and Professor Peterson is a member of the Agricultural college faculty D. Ward King Is one of the foremost i road experts in the Uniti-d States and will be the leading speaker at ; the conention |
