Show ONE OF FIRST SETTLERS OF OGDEN The funeral service of the late Mrs. Amanda Chase was held in the Third ward meeting house yesterdaj at i p. m.. Bishop Wni D Van Dke presiding pre-siding The pallbearers were Frank. Ohaun coy W , Myron B William, Ezra and Joseph Richardson, - brothers of Mrs Chase Among the many beautiful floral offerings of-ferings was a large pi low of roses and carnations, the tribute of her children; chil-dren; a large wreath, the remembrance remem-brance of Brewery Workers' local union un-ion No. .125. of which two of her brothers. He also spoke of his childhood associations associa-tions with Dudlej Chase in Nauvoo, and, in closing, admonished thorn present, to follow the good example set by their progenitors and told of tie reward that would be theirs in the future lite 11 tney were lrue 10 J the gospel. Elder Fred G. Taylor of Lewiston, Utah, a nephew of Mrs Chase, told of (he love that he had borne for his jaunt since earliest childhood, of her I good, unselfish life and devoted motherhood. moth-erhood. Her memory, he said, would b a lasting protection to her rela-tives rela-tives A beautiful tribute to motherhood mother-hood was given by Elder Taylor in quotations of poetry during the course of his remarks Bishop James Martin of Farr West and Elder John Grow eulogized the life of the deceased with recollections from personal experiences In a life-(long life-(long acquaintance. Bishop Van Dyke, in his closing re-1 re-1 marks, paid his respects lo the fam-j fam-j Uy, which he held in high esteem and I gave an impressive doctrinal sermon which gave much comfort to all. The benediction was pronounced by Elder Alfr'd Dixon. The Interment was in the city cemetery and the grave was dedicated by H. H. Shu it liff Mrs Amanda Chase was the daughter daugh-ter of Ebenozer C. nnd Phoebe W 1 Richardson nnd was born in Council Bluffs la August 23. 1849. her parents par-ents being members of the Mormon church I The family emigrated to Utah in J 1 S50. arriving In Salt Lake City early I In October They remained In Salt Erkc CitJ for n few weeks to recuper ate from the effects of their arduous journey and to attend conference after af-ter which they continued their Journey Jour-ney northward and settled at Brown's I fort. Weber county, where Mrs. Chase spent the crenter part of her life She w'tiR married to Dudley Chase in 1868 and was the mother of ten cbil 1 dren, eicht of whom survive her Mrs Chase is also survived by 55 grand' children and r great-grandchildren all (of whom are living In Utah and Ida-bo Ida-bo About fifteen years of her mar-ried mar-ried life was spent In Idaho, but for the past eight years she has lived I with her mother Mrs Phoebe W.
