Show PHILIPPINES BUY AMERICAN GOODS Washington. Jan. 12 For the first time in a period covering approximately approxi-mately a year the Philippine Islands have become the greatest purchaser of American manufactured cotton cloths Fifteen vears ago it would have been difficult to obtain enough American cloth In the islands to make a Filipino maiden a frock and now the Philippines have become the j best customer the United States has ; and the outlook for further increase In considered excellent The total Philippine imports of merchandise for , the ten months amounted to $53,508,- I 130, of which 10 per cent came from the United States The tot3l exports from the Philippine Philip-pine Islands for the ten months ending end-ing with October were $46,000,000 as compared with $33,000,000 for the similar period of the preceding ear The increases are general in all Philippine Phil-ippine products except sugai which shows a decrease from 194,000 lo 184,000 Ions The greatest increase was In 'Wa-Dlla 'Wa-Dlla hemp, the money value of 'which was Increased from $11,686,480 to $17,708,300, During the same period the customs revenues Increased approximately ap-proximately $1,700,000 00 |
