Show THE COUNTY BILL it will go into effect saturday changes in the fee system treasurer and collector combined interest on warrants tomorrow the county bill cassed by the recent legislature will go into effect and will hereafter regulate with considerable sid erable change the affairs of the various counties it provides for a uniform of county government creates county officers and establishes the fees to be charged the prentest prea test change is proba bly in the fee system the fees heretofore pa to county clerks sheriffs and recorders which have almost made those offices self porting will now be paid into the county treasury and as provided by the salary bill the various county officers will be paid fixed salaries the county clerk is made ex officio county auditor in all counties excepting salt lake where a separate auditor is appointed county warrants which in this county have carried 8 per cent interest when there was no money in the treasury are prohibited from carrying more than 5 per cent interest the new law brings up the price 0 to a slight increase over the old fee in order to file a suit a deposit of must be made which covers all the up to the time of trial at that time another deposit must be made the exceptions to this rule are cases ot attachment receiver or an in junction another important provision as taff section incorporating the offices of treasurer and collector into one office while this does not go into effect until june let 1897 it does away with the election of a collector thia fall the law is expected to make the pay of each office commensurate with the work required and to prevent the accumulation of a private fortune hv any office holder under the fee system |
