MERRILL BASjaoe Prof. Lewis A Merrill, director of the extension division of the State Agricultural college and noted throughout the wests a leading dry farm expert, has resijnod from tho faculty of the college and will hereafter here-after engage In expert agricultural work in Kb commercial rather than educational phases. The resignation was accepted at a mooting of the board of trustees held yesterday. Pro-fesEor Pro-fesEor Merrill's successor has not been named. Simultaneously with the acceptance of the resignation, the board decided to transfer tho offices of the extension exten-sion division from Salt Lake to Logan. This will be done September 1, when Prof. J C. HogouGon, Miss Leah Ivins and MIbs Gertrude McCheyne, the remaining personnel of the extension ex-tension department, will move their headquarters from the Vermont building build-ing to one of the buildings of the Agricultural Ag-ricultural college at Logan. The change is to be made because the trustea feel that the extension work can bq pushed more effectively by closer i elation with the parent Institution. In-stitution. Particularly, an oconomy of funds will bo the result from the transfer, it is said |
