Show RIPPING UP THE STONE BLOCKS The stone blocks on the east side of the intersection of Washington avenue ave-nue and Twenty-third, Twenty-fourth and Twenty-fifth streets, have been removed and tho Moran company has begun grading, preparatory to placing plac-ing tho asphaltum pavement. Ttfr. Ross stateB that the Rapid Transit company is spending a good deal of money to make their tracks at tho Intersections the best that can bo placed in the paved district, it being be-ing necessary to place the entire roadbed in a heavy layer of cement base, following that with tho binder and then the asphaltumt It has been made imperative by the engineering department of the city that the concrete con-crete base shall be given ample time for settling before the "blndor" and "top" shall bo placed in position. It will be as late as next Wednesday, Wednes-day, says Mr. Ross, when the "binder "bin-der mixer' and the asphalt plant bo-gin bo-gin operation, but the work will move rapidly after that time. |
