A. Purton, a member of the engi- H necring force of the Short Line, who H left here today after spending the H better part of a -week making an in- H esflgation as to the feasibility of H the proposition Mr. Purton would H not make any statement excopt that H he had been Investigating that mat- H ter, but from persons here that he H had consulted it was learned that M there was a probability that the Short H Line would make the change soon. H At present there are two interur- H han proposals bpfoie tho people of l this country one being financed by H P. A. Wells, an attorney of Omaha, H and the other by David Eccles and ns- H Fociates, and either, if built, will in- H jure the trade of tho Short Line I In B Cache. H David Eccles has already started H construction work on his road which will run only as far an Smlthfleld at first He lias the grade built and todaj is hauling ties and steel to the grade. Mr. Wells reached here from Omaha Oma-ha last oening and then went on to Preston. Ho was driven from here to Cache Junction this evening to catch the train for Ogden whore he has an appointment with parties Interested In-terested in his venture -Simon Bamberger Bam-berger among others. Before leaving leav-ing he stated that he had financed tho proposed interurhan from Preston to Ogden in New York and Chicago, and that the line would certainly be constructed. Surveys hae been made as far north as" Preston and tomorrow to-morrow the surveyors start south toward Ogden. The road is to cost one and a half millions, and the salo of the bonds has been arranged for, according to the statement made bv Mr. Wells this evening. |
