Show PINE FOREST RICH IN GOLD VALUES. Winnemucca Star: Col Thomas Ewing, superintendent of the property owned by the Oklahoma Okla-homa Mining company, in the Pine Forest range, is in town for a few days attending to business matters here. He is very much pleased with the showings being made at tho property prop-erty and states that he Is extracting rich gold ore A new shoot that Is being opened is producing ore that is literally covered with the precious yellow metal. Mr Ewing brought in a large sample of the ore hat shows many colors of gold. The Oklahoma estate Is very favorably favor-ably located at the camp of Dyke, twelve miles west of Quinn River Crossing, where a number of other properties arc under development. This camp came into the spotlight some years ago when prospectors disclosed dis-closed extremely rich gold ore there. Now mining men and prospectors are beginning to take notice of the camp's doings and man are going there. The Pine Forest range has long been recognized as one of the greatest gold sections in the state, and it is a large territory, covering a range of mountains at least forty miles In length. Dyke 1b the most prominent camp in the range, for the most development de-velopment work has been accomplished accomplish-ed in this particular section and with tho largely developed properties prospectors pros-pectors are opening lodges that hare exceptionally flno showings of gold ore. John Yates, ono of the pioneer prospectors at Dyke, has uncovered verS' rich ore in a number of places and has big showings of milling ore exposed. Mr. Yates Is one of those sturdy prospectors and has the Btaylng qualities when Ive knows he has a good thing. He has been in the camp for the past four or five years and he Is satisfied that his holdings eventually eventual-ly will make him rich. Mr. Yates can show ore from his different claims that Ib fairly bespangled with gold. Near the Yates property Is located the Yellow Dog estate, owned by Eastern people, and Is under the superintendence su-perintendence of S. L. Baker. On this property at the surface cropplngs ore was extracted that assayed ?26,-000 ?26,-000 to the ton in gold. At the present pres-ent time Mr. Baker is running a crosscut tunnel to cut that rich ledge at depth. The Wall Street Is another company oporating In the camp and is uncovering uncover-ing good bodies of ore. Dyke and the Pine Forest range will bo among the big gold producing camps of Humboldt county bofore the summer is over is the prediction of mining men who have visited the camp lately. |
