Show MILLION FOR GOULD ROAD . Vice President E. L. Brown of the Denver & Rio Grande railroad yesterday yes-terday authorized improvements, the cost of which will amount to more than a million dollars. These Improvements Im-provements will consist principally of tho substitution of steel and concrete bridges for wooden structures, concrete con-crete arches in place of culverts, filling fill-ing up of high trestles on branch lines; the ballasting of the desert portion of the main line between Westwater and Cisco, Utah; improving and making the necessary grade rectifications rec-tifications between Riverside and Malta Mal-ta on tho second division in Colorado, Colo-rado, the construction of a number of new passing tracks in Colorado and Utah; the installation of a number of new track scales of latest design; the erection of now and modern coal chutes at Alamosa and Grand Junction Junc-tion in Colorado and at Thlstlo Junction Junc-tion in Utah, the purchasing of new shop tools for tho various plants at Denver, Pueblo, Grand Junction, Salt Lake City and other division points for the more economic and expeditious expedi-tious making of repairs. On account of tho unusual length of the new Mallet engines recently ordered or-dered turn-tables one hundred feet In diameter will be required, and they will be Installed at Thistle Junction. Utah, and Mlnturu, Colo, the former point being located at the foot of Soldier Sol-dier Summit, and the latter on the west side of Tennessee Pass. These Improvements will start at once and will necessitate tho employment employ-ment of a great number of men for a period of at least twelve months. |
